One of the most well known amplifiers is likely the N6RY amplifier. Terry A. Conboy (N6RY) described the amplifier in QST January 1979. Many people have build this amplifier over the years. It’s excellent specifications make it suited as a (switchable) amplifier in your receiver, the gain element in your active antenna or as between your diode mixer and the crystal amplifier (don’t forget to add a diplexer in between)!

  • OIP3 = +32 dBm
  • IIP3 = 16.9 dBm
  • P1dB,out = 15.7 dBm
  • P1dB,in =  2 dBm
  • Gain = 15.1 dBm
  • Noise figure = 3.8 dB
  • Frequency range = 100 kHz to 35 MHz
  • Input / output impedance = 50 Ohm (output impedance can changed by a single resistor)
  • Power supply = 12V @ 53 mA

The power supply can be changed between 9V and 15 V with little effect on the characteristics.
The input impedance is independent of the load and is 50 Ohm.
